With good local knowledge, Skye-Kin draws on a huge variety of information sources, some generally available and many others obtained through the benefit of accumulated research and local contacts.
Local information includes statutory records from 1855 onwards, old parish records and census returns. Those provide the initial starting point for a search.
Other material, including memorial inscriptions, estate papers, books, wills, and 1881 census on CD-ROM, are used to add depth to a search.
Skye-Kin maintains a comprehensive database of Skye family groups, summarising and cross-indexing all of the genealogical research done to-date. This database is continually being updated and expanded by a programme of pro-active ongoing research.
An infinitely valuable resource, Skye-Kin's database of family groups, are the starting point for any enquiry and mean that in many cases, a brief and affordable initial report can be delivered without the need for any in-depth, time consuming research.
